Dharwad: Thousands of people witnessed the grand Dharwad Dasara Jumboo Savari procession held on the occasion of Vijaydashami on Tuesday.
Presence of elephants, horses, Janz mela and different troupes of folk arts which had come from Kerala, Tumakur, Chitradurga and surrounding places of the district added to the grandeur of Dasara procession.
The procession which is being held for the past 13 years, started from Eshwar temple at Gandhinagar and passed through Kalaghatagi road, Tollnaka, Bagalkot petrol pump, Hosayallapur, Gandhi Chowk, Subhas road and culminated at Kalabhavan.
Speaking on the occasion Shivanand Shivayogi swamiji of Haranahalli Kodimutt said, “At a time when both the state and the center is reeling under many problems, only unity and integrity would take us out of these problems.” He urged people to maintain peace on any developments concerning inter-state issues on water and land.
MLC BAsavaraj Horatti, district in-charge minister Vinay Kulkarni, Dharwad Dasara Jumboo Savari Utsav Samiti president Gururaj Hunashimarad, scores of swamijis of different mutts of North Karnataka were present.
