Dharwad: The Karnataka Vidyavardhakha Sangha (KVS) is all set to launch the seventh Horanadu Kannadigas (Kannadigas residing outside State) Mahamela in Hyderabad on April 8 and 9.

The aim behind organising this convention is to evaluate the problems of the Kannadigas residing outside the State and putting pressure on the state government to solve their problems.

KVS President Patil Puttappa confirmed the date and venue of the meet.

KVS, which has been a platform for several pro-Kannada movements and has been spearheading the cause of Kannadigas, has introduced this unique convention with the support of Kannada organisations working in Andhra Pradesh.

The two-day meet would be held at Moulana Azad Urdu University and a total of 16 pro-Kannada organisations working in Hyderabad have extended their support to the mela wherein nearly 500 delegates would be taking part, he said.

Puttappa further said that this programme aimed to cater to the problems faced by Kannadigas residing in Andhra Pradesh and Telengana, and bring their plight to the notice of the state government.

In all its last six mahamelas, focus was laid on improving the Kannada medium schools, appointing teachers and also knowing the contributions of the Horanadu Kannadigas to literature and other fields.
