Dharwad: Gurunatha Gowda Goudar of Govanakoppa, the elder brother of former ZP member late Yogesh Gowda, who was facing charges of possessing arms illegally, and was absconding after a futile attempt to avenge the murder of his brother, surrendered before the second additional court here on Saturday.
The court remanded him over to judicial custody for 14 days.
It is said Gurunatha Gowda along with his accomplishes had conspired to kill the accused in his brother’s murder, but after the Police arrested them, he had left the scene and was absconding since then.
Police who raided Gurunatha Gowda ‘s residence on suspicion found nine live bullets, and three country made pistols, during the raid.
Police have already arrested his alleged aides Sanjeev Vajanthri, Lakshman Malleshappa, and Hanumathgouda Kadadi.
The police had launched a manhunt for him. But they could not trace him. They had suspected that Gurunath Gowda may seek bail. But he suddenly surrendered before the court on Saturday. He has been kept in the sub-jail in Hubballi.
