Dharwad: The state government has decided to distribute ten to fifteen thousand LPG Gas kits to the families of tribals, SC, ST’s among others residing near forest, in order to protect the forest from cutting, said Labour minister Santosh Lad.
Speaking after distributing LPG gas kits to some 84 tribal families residing near Kalaghatagi forest area at Devalingikopp in Kalaghatagi taluk Lad said with increasing cutting of trees the forest is becoming empty, without forest the wild animals are left with no water. This problem has affected the lives of people too.
Nurturing and growing forest must be our primary duty he said while asking rural people to join hands with forest department in many of their programmes for growing and protecting forest.
Keeping in mind the problems arising out of forest cutting, the government has decided to distribute LPG gas kits to people living on the banks of forest, he said.
Besides the ‘Anna bhagya’ scheme government has been supplying milk to government school students, and made a provision for interest free loan up to Rs. 3 lakh for BPL farmers, he said.
