Martyrs Sepoy Hasansab, Subedar Basappa Patil laid to rest

Dharwad/Belagavi: Karnataka’s bravehearts, Sepoy Hasansab Khudavand and Subedar Basappa Patil, martyred in a landmine explosion at Leh in Kashmir on Friday, were laid to rest at their native villages on Monday, August 1.

Sepoy Hasansab Khudavand and Subedar Basappa Patil were killed on July 29 during a combing operation when they were caught in a mine blast, the Army had said.

Hasansab’s funeral took place at Saidapur village in Dharwad amidst state honours. His last rites were carried out according to Islamic rites.

Patil’s last rites took place at his hometown Nabapur village in Belagavi district. The martyr’s body was taken in a procession, before the last rites.

Both their bodies were brought to their native villages via Goa. Hundreds of villagers from neighboring areas also bid a tearful adieu to the martyrs raising patriotic slogans, while their families were inconsolable.

Sepoy Hasansab is survived by his mother, father, a younger sister and brother, while Subedar Patil is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
