Dharwad: The district police have recovered Rs. 23 Lakh unaccounted money which was being illegally transported from Hubballi to Lakshmeshwar on Wednesday evening at Kundagol.
On a tip off, police waylaid a Mahindra Xylo vehicle near a degree college in the outskirts of Kundagol at around 6 pm on Wednesday and on enquiry found Rs. 23 Lakh in Rs. 2000 and Rs. 100 denominations, being carried without any documents.
The arrested are identified as Ameeraram B Devasi (30) of Rajasthan presently living at Dajibanpeth in Hubballi, Aravind S Meharwade (45) of Hubballi and Premsingh B Bhati (32) of Jodhpur in Rajasthan and presently living in Deshpandenagar, Hubballi.
SP Dharmendrakumar Meena has announced a prize for Kundagol Police staff who were successful in detecting the case.
A case has been registered with Kundagol police station in this regard.
