Dharwad: Raitha Sena Karnataka State President Veeresh Sobaradmath has demanded both the State and Union governments to immediately resolve the Mahadayi issue or face the wrath of farmers.

Mahadayi water dispute: Tribunal rejects Karnataka's interim plea-1Speaking to reporters here, Sobaradmath said though farmers of North Karnataka have been protesting for the last 640 days demanding water, but the respective governments at the State and the Centre are neglecting the issue.

Reiterating that the farmers will continue the protest till their demands were met, Sobaradmath said even though MPs from all the four affected districts were from the BJP, which is the ruling party at the Centre, they were not exerting any pressure in this regard.

He wanted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to lead an all party delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impress upon him on the necessity to implement the Mahadayi project.

Alleging that all the political parties were keeping this issue alive for their political gains, Sobaradmath was sure to say that people who are aware of true colours of these politicians will teach them a lesson in the coming Assembly elections.

He demanded that all the four MPs from the affected districts should tender their resignation for their failure in ensuring the implementation of the project.

Raitha Sene General Secretary Shankrappa Ambali was of the opinion that both the State and the Centre should sit and resolve the issue amicably.
