BELAGAVI: The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) hosted an ex-servicemen’s (ESM) rally on Sunday at Shivaji Stadium, addressing pension, banking, and documentation concerns under one roof. The event brought together nearly 1,485 veterans and veer naris from Belagavi and neighboring areas of Maharashtra.

The rally, presided over by Brigadier Joydeep Mukherjee, Station Commander and Commandant of MLIRC, featured representatives from PCDA (P) Prayagraj, PCDA Bengaluru, PAO (OR) Maratha LI, CPPC Bengaluru, ZSWO (Belagavi, Dharwad, and Vijayapura), major banks, the police, and revenue departments. Dedicated counters were set up to resolve pension-related grievances, ensuring efficient support for attendees.

A medical camp, organized with the assistance of the cantonment board hospital, military hospital, dental center, and ECHS polyclinic Belagavi, offered free health check-ups for veer naris, ESM, and war-disabled soldiers. Facilities such as ECHS, SPARSH, AADHAAR, PAN, and AWPO services were also made available to streamline document processing.

The rally celebrated the sacrifices of soldiers, honoring 30 veer naris and 5 war-disabled soldiers. Brigadier Mukherjee, along with Brig Sandeep C, Southern Regional Head for War Wounded, and Hero Motors, presented life-support equipment and financial assistance to the war-disabled.

This initiative not only addressed critical issues but also fostered camaraderie among veterans, strengthening ties within the ex-servicemen community.
