Gadag: Shigli Basya, who faced more than 200 cases of burglary and hit headlines for fighting his cases at the court is all smiles.

His wife Gulzara Banu has won the GP elections from Shigli GP of Lankeshwara taluk in Gadag and she bagged 248 votes.

Shigli Basu alias Shigli Basyaa has managed to make it to the headlines for various reasons from time to time.

He would stage distinct kinds of protests if he felt he was denied justice. From climbing tree to climbing mobile towers, the man has given tough time to the cops.

He had even gone to the extent of biting off thumb of an advocate arguing against him, in Haveri court.

In 2016, he said that he has reformed himself and has started fighting for the cause of the homeless. He is also said to have visited the houses where he had burgled, seeking their forgiveness.
