Gadag: Dindi padayatris of Vari tradition, who took out a padayatra to Pandharpur, were given hospitality at Bhairanahatti Doreswamy Viraktha Matha in the Taluk on the way.
The Dindi pilgrims, who arrived at the monastery, recited katha-keerthana-abhangas, took a rest for some time after receiving the prasadam prepared at the Matha and proceeded ahead. It is a traditional hospitality offered by the Shrimatha to Pandharpur pilgrims every year.
For decades, Srimatha has been working to feed the hungry through Annadasoha for pilgrims who take out padayatras every year to Lakshmeshwara, Konana Thambige, Haluvagalu, Allapura, Harappanahalli, Yellapura and many other shrines, as well as many other holy places like Hubballi Siddharuda Math, Yellammanagudda, Banashankari, etc.
The Varakari tradition is a part of the Hindu culture that began in Maharashtra. Varakari is said to be a spiritual tradition that evolved into a Bhakti movement and made an immense impact on the lives of the masses of Maharashtra for over 600 years from the 13th century to the 18th century.
