Gadaga: Stating that the Congress has protected minorities before and will always protect them, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar said that Constitution and National flag, both are an aspect of truth or reality. Hence, I have ordered everyone in the party not to speak about Hijab but now I would like to speak about the issue, he added.
Speaking to mediapersons on Sunday February 13 here said that Mekedatu padayatra was not taken up keeping elections in mind. It is the BJP which is not working as it has promised. The party tried a lot to stop Mekedatu protest, and they had approached the court too. We will soon begin the Mekedatu protest. I will call MLAs’ meeting to deliberate on the issue, he added.
Shivakumar observed that North Karnataka and Kalyana Karnataka has been facing many problems. However, State Government does not want us to take up any political programme. Keeping this mind, we will soon draw up a programme. Except political programmes, the Government has permitted conducting of other programmes including religious fairs. Despite no room for politics, we will work as voice of people, he asserted.
