Haveri: Nothing is permanent in life. Life in itself is impermanent, then how can the power be permanent, philosophised Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday December 19.

He was speaking after inaugurating the statue of Kittur Rani Chennamma at his home town Shiggaon. He reiterated that one should never forget the impermanence nature of life and added that whenever I come to Shiggaon I am just Basavaraj Bommai, a human being beyond all the position I hold. I hold myself back from being emotional but coming here and meeting the people of Shiggaon always makes me emotional, he averred.

Calling Shiggaon as land that preached rationality, he said that with no rationale success is a mirage. Speaking on Kittur Rani Chennamma he said that Chennamma did not fight for her land but fought to protect the self-esteem of her people. She turned every citizen into a valourous person, he stressed and added that in the current scenario too we need to fight for identity.

Koodalasangama Panchamasali Peetha seer Basavajaya Mrityunjaya Swamiji, Harihara Panchamasali Matha Seer Vachanaananda Swamiji, Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, Minister of Handlooms and Textiles Shankar B. Patil Munenakoppa and MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal were present.
