Hirekerur: Hirekerur MLA and Congress leader B C Patil, a well known Kannada actor, stated that ‘Challenging Star’ Darshan and ‘Rocking Star’ Yash may change the election outcome in the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.
Speaking to reporters at his home town, Hirekerur, the lone Congress MLA from the Haveri district said that people have confidence in film actors.
It can be recalled that in Mandya, Sumalatha, wife of late ‘Rebel Star’ Ambareesh, has locked horns with Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy.
“When I contested, people said I will not get over 5,000 votes. But I was elected as an independent candidate. It is the strength of the film industry,” he said.
B C Patil’s statement comes amid reports that he is not happy with the coalition government for denying him a ministerial post. In the past, the BJP had reportedly approached Patil during its ‘Operation Kamala’ strategy, but he had refused to switch parties.
