In Belagavi, police have intensified their investigation into the murder of businessman Santosh Padmannavar, who died on October 9. Authorities seized several electronic devices, including CCTV DVRs, pen drives, and hard disks, from his residence. Santosh’s wife, Uma, and two of her friends from Facebook have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody following their appearance in court on October 17.
During interrogation, Uma alleged that her husband had multiple affairs and would often bring women home, prompting the police to confiscate the devices for further examination. City Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang confirmed the seizure and stated that the items have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis.
Initially, the family believed Santosh had died of a heart attack, and his last rites were performed on October 10. However, a complaint filed by the couple’s daughter, Sanjana, on October 15, raised suspicions about Uma’s involvement in her father’s death. This led to the exhumation of Santosh’s body and a subsequent postmortem, which revealed further details prompting the investigation and arrests.
