Belagavi: Minister for Commerce & Industries, Infrastructure M.B. Patil announced plans to establish a start-up park on a 100-acre site between Belagavi and Hubballi, aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs by providing a dedicated space for innovation and growth.
Speaking at a press conference in Belagavi, Minister Patil highlighted the importance of creating a strong start-up ecosystem in Karnataka, taking inspiration from Bengaluru, which has already become a hub for start-ups. “We will replicate this success by creating a start-up park in the region between Belagavi and Hubballi,” he said.
Patil also discussed the ongoing development of an industrial corridor between Belagavi and Hubballi. He acknowledged the previous proposal for an international airport near Kittur, but recent upgrades to the Belagavi and Hubballi airports have complicated the feasibility of such a project. Despite this, the state government remains committed to improving industrial infrastructure in the region.
The minister also addressed challenges related to establishing a direct railway line between Dharwad and Belagavi, noting alignment issues as a significant hurdle. “There have been discussions about creating a direct train route between Dharwad and Belagavi, but alignment problems persist,” Patil stated. A recent meeting was held to address these technical issues, and he has directed officials to find suitable solutions.
Patil further mentioned that the proposed alignment changes could reduce train travel time between Belagavi and Bengaluru by up to five hours. However, the Railway Department has expressed some resistance to the proposed changes. Minister Patil is engaging with concerned legislators and ministers to find a resolution.
