Belagavi: “Vayuputras” the aero design team from KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (KLS GIT) reached the top 15 in the Lockheed Martin sponsored SAE Aero Design Competition 2018 (East) organised at Lakeland, Florida, in the United States of America. Around 75 teams from USA, Canada, Brazil, Egypt, Poland, Venezuela, India, Puerto Rico and other nations from around the globe participated in the event.
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) conducts the annual aero design competition to provide an international platform to bring about a positive change in the field of aero design by supporting and encouraging new designs that could enhance aircraft performance, manufacturing and production technology.
The “Vayuputras” became the second team from Karnataka and fourth team from India to make it to the top 15 at the prestigious global competition. The team is also the first and the only team from North Karnataka region to participate in the international event.
Anil Yangare, Sakib Jamadar, Mohammad Iliyas Sayyed, Ashwin Karichannavar, Mohammad Faizan Udikeri, Lavanya Bidari and Sanjana Baliga represented the Vayuputras at the international competition. Dr. M S Patil of KLS GIT had guided the team in building the aero model.
Management of KLS GIT, philanthropists and many other companies have supported the financially backward to participate in the event.
