Leopard attacks man in Khanapura forest area

Belagavi: A 50-year-old villager sustained severe injuries in a leopard attack on the outskirts of Degaon hamlet in Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary limits in Khanapur taluk on Wednesday.

Injured is Krishna Mahadev Dhoond, resident from Degaon. He had ventured into the forest to collect cashew nuts and fruits when he unintentionally hurt a leopard resting in a bush. The raged big cat attacked him.

On a tip off, under the guidance of Assistant conservator of forests C B Patil, Range forest officer (RFO) Magadum and Deputy RFO Nandyappagol a team immediately reached the spot and took the injured person to the government hospital at Khanapur in their vehicle. Doctors said that he has suffered minor injuries and is out of danger.
