Chikkodi: In a rather bizarre incident, a 23-year-old teacher married her 16-year-old male student, at Rayabagapatna of Chikkodi taluk in Belagavi district.
As a response to the same, the reputed school in which she was employed has suspended her from duty. Though the teacher is said to have married the teenager six-months-ago, the matter came to light only on Wednesday, leaving the entire taluk in a state of shock.
As per sources, the teacher and her student fell in love and the teacher was adamant to marry the same youth. She had even tried to consume poison and end her life.
At present the teacher, her teenager husband and her family members have been living in some undisclosed location. While the people from the region have been making this an issue, it is believed that the families of both the teacher and the student have accepted the relationship and are concerned about their safety.
