Belagavi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Belagavi on Saturday, February 27 to address farmers about the Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana and making use of this opportunity, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators and MPs have decided to request the PM to establish the proposed Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for south India here on the premises of the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.

The legislators and MPs from the region would apprise Modi about the infrastructure and facilities available for the establishment of the PMO for south India.

Earlier, the Union government had been looking at Bengaluru for the establishment of the PMO for south India, but reconsidered its decision owing to the City’s traffic problems, it is said.

The local legislators and MPs are of the opinion that the city has good air connectivity and all other infrastructure and traffic is not a problem in Belagavi.

They feel that if the PMO for south India is established here, then the state would have the prime minister visiting the city once or twice annually.

The proposed PMO in south India would cater to states of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Goa.
