Belagavi’s Marihal police have detained a fifth suspect in the brutal assault on a NWKSRTC bus conductor, raising the total arrests to five. The latest accused, 25-year-old Mohan Hanchinmani from Balekundri village, joins four others previously arrested, including a minor.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirmed the injured conductor’s recovery and assured close monitoring of the case. He stated that KSRTC senior officials are on-site, assessing the situation, and he may personally visit Belagavi.

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) president Narayanagouda condemned the attack, allegedly linked to language disputes. He accused the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) of escalating violence in Belagavi and challenged its leaders to confront him directly when he visits the city on Tuesday.
