Police recover huge stash in jail raid

Belagavi: Some inmates of the district jail seem to be living a lavish life within the premises. In a raid conducted on the jail on April 17, a huge stash of grocery items, one Flatron TV, radio, tobacco packets, cigarette packets and other items were confiscated by the police.

Under the leadership of Police Commissioner D C Rajappa, DCP (Law and Order) Seema Latkar and DCP (Crime and Traffic) Mahaning K Nandaganvi, a team of 15 police officers and 200 policemen raided the jail based on a tip off.

They found sugar, boost, wheat flour, maggie noodles, dry fish, wafers, papad, chilli packets, masala packets, ground nuts, pulses, edible oil, sauces and crockery. They have also recovered 1.5 kg tobacco, gutkha packets, sutta packets, four sim cards, one Flatron TV and radio device.
