Bengaluru: In a big victory for Ramesh Jarakiholi, a turncoat MLA and major irrigation minister in the BSY-led BJP government, he has been appointed as the new district in-charge minister of his home district, Belagavi.

He quit JDS-Congress government n 2018 as he was denied the Belagavi district in-charge minister’s post, spearheaded a rebel movement, which led to the collapse of the coalition government.

He is a valmiki strongman from Belagavi, who is largely credited for paving way for the BJP to come to power.

With dissent reportedly brewing in the BJP and the leaders from North Karnataka/ Belagavi region behind the dissent, the impact the allocation of district in-charge post to Jarakiholi will have is something that cannot be predicted.

Meanwhile, food and civil supplies minister K Gopalaiah has been appointed as the new district in-charge minister of Hassan, a JDS strong belt. Gopalaiah quit the JDS to join the BJP.
