In a heartbreaking incident from Belagavi, a young engineering student reportedly took his own life at a boys’ hostel near Dharmanath Bhavan in the Ramnagar locality on Monday. The deceased, identified as Prajwal Kuppanatti, aged 20, hailed from Bavana Soundatti village in Raibag taluk.
Sources indicate that instead of attending college as usual, Prajwal remained in his room throughout the day. Later that evening, he was found hanging in his hostel accommodation, sending shockwaves through fellow students and faculty members.
Emergency responders and local police quickly arrived at the location upon receiving information. Initial inquiries were conducted on-site, and evidence was gathered to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
At this point, the cause behind Prajwal’s extreme step remains unclear. Friends and classmates were left stunned, struggling to come to terms with the loss. No suicide note was recovered at the scene, further deepening the mystery.
The Malmaruti police station has officially filed a case, and a deeper probe is now underway. Authorities are expected to speak with peers, teachers, and family members in the coming days to uncover possible reasons that may have led to the suicide.
This incident adds to the growing concern over mental health issues among students, especially those residing far from their families while pursuing education.
