Belagavi: In a heartbreaking road mishap near Chikkabagewadi village in Bailhongal taluk, three members of a single family, including a one-year-old child, lost their lives instantly when an SUV and a car collided head-on on Monday.

Authorities revealed that the car, en route to Hirebagewadi, crashed into an oncoming SUV heading toward Bailhongal. The fatal impact is suspected to have occurred when the SUV driver tried to overtake another vehicle and lost control, resulting in a direct collision.

The intensity of the crash was so severe that one of the vehicles veered off the road and ended up in a nearby agricultural field, completely wrecked. The SUV’s front was also extensively damaged in the incident.

The deceased were identified as 23-year-old Anees Sayyad, his 21-year-old wife Aaiman, and their infant son Aaimad—all residents of Hirebagewadi in Belagavi taluk. Two others sustained serious injuries, including Ayesha Anwar Sayyad, who is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Belagavi.

The driver of the car involved has been named as Sureshgouda Patil from Savadatti. He is reportedly the son of former legislator R V Patil.

Bailhongal police have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Such incidents highlight the urgent need for road safety awareness and responsible driving to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
