Land Compensation Claimant Pastes Court Notice on SDO's Vehicle in Belagavi Dispute

Belagavi: In a dramatic turn of events on Tuesday, Nemani Jangale, a land compensation claimant, pasted a court notice on the vehicle of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) within the Corporation office premises in Belagavi. Jangale is demanding compensation from the Municipal Corporation for 5 acres of land acquired for road construction in Shahapur’s Haibatti Colony, as ordered by the court.

Jangale claims to have been waiting for years to receive ₹75.96 lakh in compensation, as directed by the court. The court has warned that the Corporation’s assets will be confiscated if the payment is not made. Jangale stated, “We have come to confiscate the items in the corporation” to enforce the court’s order.

An officer from the Corporation has requested additional time to resolve the issue, with the case scheduled for hearing on September 4. The incident underscores the ongoing dispute between Jangale and the Municipal Corporation over the long-overdue compensation.
