Vijayapura: With the war between Russia and Ukraine entered seventh day and bombing has been intensified by Russia according to the reports, the students of Karnataka, mainly of Vijayapura have continued to face terrible situation.

Amid this, around 12 students of Karnataka including six from Vijayapura have reportedly got into a train to reach Lviv City from Kharkiv in Ukraine.

The students who had remained stuck in the warzone and had to take shelter in the metro station, have finally boarded the train that will be taking them to Lviv which is a bordering city to Poland.

“We had a terrible situation here mainly after Russia intensified the attack on major cities including Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Finally, when the train services resumed to allow the foreigner to move out of cities such as Kharkiv, we decided to catch the train to quickly move out of the danger zone to reach Poland border,” said Vividha Mallikarjunmath, a resident of Vijayapura who is doing her Medicine course in Ukraine and now stranded after war declared.

She said that they have to travel around 1,000 kilometres to reach the Poland border from where they plan to catch the flight back to India. Meanwhile she is upset and angry with the Indian Government is not making any arrangements to evacuate the Indians stranded in the warzone.

“We did not get help or any communication from the Indian embassy. We were left there to fend for ourselves in such a terrifying situation where we could hear sounds of bombing very often,” she said.

Her father, Allamaprabhu who is worried about the safety of his daughter and eagerly waiting for her arrival, also expressed anguish over the Modi Government.

“The BJP government just did not do anything to help our children stranded in war-torn nation. We were making every effort on our own to bring the children back. Thankfully, I have some friends in the US and Poland who were making every possible arrangement within their limits to bring my daughters and other students of Vijayapura out of Kharkiv,” he said.

The angry father said that he has spent money from his pocket for arranging flight tickets for his daughters and other students of Vijayapura.

He said that his daughter is expected to take flight on Thursday March 3 from Poland and expected to reach India on Friday March 4 or Saturday March 5.
