Vijayapura: Terming all those people who voted for the BJP as fools, Former MLA and Congress District President Raju Algur said that nothing better can be said to those who have been voting for the BJP despite the Modi Government making the lives of common people miserable.

“It is during the BJP Government that the prices of petrol, diesel, domestic cylinder and essential commodities have become unprecedentedly expensive. No promise made by the Modi Government has been met so far in the last seven years. Common man has not seen Acche Din as yet. Even then if the people vote for the BJP in the elections, then they are nothing but fools,” he said at the press conference on Thursday November 4.

Referring to the defeat of the party candidate Ashok Managuli in the recently held by-election in Sindagi, he said that though the party has lost, it has secured second position bettering the tally from the third in the last assembly polls.

Accusing the BJP of winning the election only by spending huge money and luring the voters, Algur said that it is the money that has played the major role.

When asked why the voters of Hanagal Constituency voted for the Congress candidate, he said that the voters of Hanagal seemed to be more mature than the voters of Sindagi.

Refuting the allegations that the party lost in Sindagi because of internal differences that cropped up after the party offered a ticket to Ashok Managuli, the son of late MLA M. C. Managuli said that the party leaders later succeeded in gaining the confidence of the disgruntled leaders. He however admitted that the party has failed to get the votes of all backward communities. “ We will have to think and introspect why the backward and Dalits voted for the BJP,” he said.

Earlier, he accused BJP of spreading canards against Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Replying to the allegations of the BJP that Siddaramaiah has.ridivuled Dalits for voting for BJP only to eke out a living, Algur claimed that Siddaramaiah never made such a statement. “The BJP which is known for twisting the facts, has continued its practice by spreading false information. All he said that those leaders of Dalit community who have joined the BJP, have thrown away the principles and ideologies of Ambedkar. They have joined BJP for their selfish motives,” he said.

He announced that the party will be holding a mega rally on Monday November 8 to protest against the BJP’s ‘false propaganda’.

Congress leaders, Mohammed Rafique Tapal, Suresh Gonasagi, Chandrashekhar Kodabagi, Somanath Kallimani, Adiveppa Salgal, Vaijanath Karpurmath, Gangadhar Sambanni and others were present.
