Vijayapura: BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal has batted for newly elected BJP MLA Mahesh Kumathalli and said that he deserves a ministerial berth.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, February 11 he said, “Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, before the recent Karnataka by-polls, had promised that Mahesh would be given a ministerial berth along with the rest of the 14 newly inducted BJP leaders. In all his election campaign speeches, BSY had promised Mahesh a ministry. Now, it is his (BSY) responsibility. If not, he will be termed as ‘untrustworthy’.”
“Our party leaders used to lambast former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy saying that he was untrustworthy. If we do not give ministerial berths to Kumathalli, the Opposition will give us the same title,” he added.
