Vijayapura: Protesting against the sharp increase in the prices of petrol in the country which has reached Rs. 100/liter, the Congress launched ‘100 not out’ campaign against the Modi government across the State.

As part of it, the District Congress Committee also held a protest outside several petrol bunks of Vijayapura city on Friday.

The protest was taken out under the leadership of District President Raju Algur, in which the members held a protest at Saibaba Petrol Bunk near Ambedkar circle.

After which, the protestors visited nearly 15 bunks of the city where they held protest against the Modi government.

Speaking on the occasion, Algur said that while the entire county is suffering from Covid pandemic and lives of common people has devastated, in such a situation, the Modi government has been increasing prices of petrol and diesel which is only adding to the woes of the common people.

Stating that the BJP government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been giving complete anti-people government in the last seven years of the rule, he said that the government instead of coming to the rescue of people, has been kept on increasing the prices of petrol and diesel prices.

Asserting that it will have a major cascading effect, he said that when the diesel and petrol prices increase, it affects every system including public transport, logistics etc.

Ultimately, it affects the common people as the transporters will have no choice but to increase the charges and people will have to bear it.

Algur said that the BJP government has lost complete control over the petroleum companies therefore, it has allowed free hand to them to keep on increasing prices based on their choice.

Because of which, today price of each liter of petrol has reached Rs. 100 while LPG cylinder cost has increase to Rs. 850 during Modi rule.

Reminding Modi of his promises of bringing petrol rate to Rs. 35/liter in the country if that comes to power, he said that Modi is has been giving only false promises.

“He has not met a single promise he made during elections.

Even today, he has continued his habit of misleading and misinforming people.”

He said that the Congress will continue to protest against anti people policies of the BJP government.

Former MLA, Vithal Katakadonda, Abdul Hamid Mushrif, S. M. Patil Ganihar, Gurugouda Patil, Mohammed Rafique Tapal, Sridevi Utlaskar, Badepeer Junaidi, Srikant Chayagol, Zamir Ahmed Bakshi, Shabbir Jagirdar, Vasant Honmode, Abdul Khadar Khadim, Suresh Gonasagi, Vidyarani Tungal and others were present.
