Vijayapura: Accusing the Congress of twisting his interview and spreading canards only to mislead the voters in the coming MLC polls for Teachers’ and Graduates’ Constituency, Former Union Minister and BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi has appealed the voters not to believe the video being circulated on social media.

Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday June 8, he said that during the recently held press conference in Athani, he had made several allegations against Congress leaders, mainly the Congress candidate Prakash Hukkeri. “The Congress leaders have deliberately twisted the video where they have tried to give an impression that I have talked against my own party candidates, particularly, sitting MLC and Teachers’ Constituency candidate, Arun Shahapur. Let me make it amply clear to our voters and the general public that I have not said anything against our candidates. Whatever I have said was targeted towards the Congress leaders but the Congress has edited the video to suit its need and spread canards against me, he said.

He again appealed to the voters not to believe the morphed video.

Senior MP also warned the Congress leaders to stop spreading misinformation. Jigajinagi expressed confidence in the victory of both of the party’s candidates in the coming polls.

Wondering why Hukkeri has contested the election for Teachers’ Constituency when he is neither educated nor teacher, he said that such a person will not do any justice to the teachers.

“I have seen Hukkeri closely. He has been doing dirty politics of spreading false information and creating controversies in his political career,” he alleged.

In his address, District BJP President R. S. Patil Kuchabal has said that the Congress is spreading false information due to frustration and fear of losing elections.

“Both candidates have done a great job and worked sincerely in addressing the issues of teachers and the graduates. Since the Congress has nothing to take credit for any works, thus, they have stooped to this low of spreading canards by twisting the video of MP,” he said and exuded confidence of the victory of both candidates with higher margin.

Later, Former Corporator, Gopal Ghatakamble said that a case with cyber police to investigate the matter and arrest the culprits has been filed.

Former MLA Appu Pattanshetty, Former BDA President Bhimashankar Hadanur and Media Coordinator Vijay Joshi were present.
