Soldier from Karnataka killed in Kashmir encounter

Vijayapura: Two soldiers have been killed in an ongoing encounter in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, February 13.

One of the soldier Sahadeva Maruthi More(26) is from Savalasanga village in Indi taluk in Vijayapura district.

The army has informed the family and his mortal remains are expected to arrive to his native place tomorrow. It has been reported that the soldier got engaged few months ago.

According to army sources, four militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday morning.

The militants were holed up in a residential area on the slope in Kupwara’s Messeri village in Chowkibal area, more than 90 km away from Srinagar.

In a fierce gun battle, the militants were killed after more than 12-hour long exchange of fire.
