Vijayapura: Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol has informed that the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai would be arriving to the District on March 9 to lay foundation stone for the mega Horti-Revanasiddehwara Lift Irrigation Project (LIP).

Informing this to the mediapersons on Monday March 6, he said that the foundation stone of the project sanctioned by the Ruling BJP Government would be laid. “This is the mega and ambitious project being granted by our Government for the District. Therefore we wanted the CM himself to lay the foundation stone for the project,” he said.

He also said that the CM will launch a programme to offer relief to the villagers symbolically who would be losing their land in the Alamatti Backwaters.

As around 1.34 Lakh acre of land will be acquired for the increase of Alamatti Dam height, the CM will launch the programme to pay relief money as per the revised prices, Karjol said.

He claimed that after becoming Water Resources Minister, he has ensured the release of Rs. 10,000 Crore for Upper Krishna Project which is of help to the farmers of Vijayapura and Bagalakote.

When asked about the status of the Airport which is still under construction, Karjol said that they had planned to inaugurate it before the imposition of a model code of conduct.

“But since construction is still going on, we are making efforts to complete it as early as possible,” he said.
