Vijayapura: Dedicating his good share of time of public address to criticise the Congress and accusing the grand old party of giving corrupt Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Congress government never thought of the welfare of the people.

Addressing a mega public election rally at Sainik School ground on Saturday April 29, he said that the only contribution the Congress gave to the people of India, is their legacy of corruption.
Referring to Former Prime Minister, late, Rajiv Gandhi, Modi said that it was Gandhi who openly admitted during his own Government that only a small share of funds granted by the Central Government reaches the beneficiaries while a major chunk of it goes into the hands of middlemen.

“Their own Prime Minister, (Rajiv Gandhi) had admitted that when the Centre grants one rupee, only 15 paise reaches the people. When their own PM admits that the funds were misused, you can understand what kind of government the Congress has given,” he said.

Claiming that the BJP Government has granted Rs. 29 Lakh Crore for welfare of the people, he said that since the BJP is giving corruption free government, the funds are going directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries.

“Now, just imagine what would have happened to such a large sum of money if the Congress were ruling the country,” he said and added that the corruption existed from Panchayat to the Parliament during the Congress Government.
Modi alleged that the Congress never thought of the welfare of poor and oppressed communities during its tenure.

Claiming he is fortunate to arrive in Vijayapura District which is the birth place of 12th century social reformer, Basaveshwara, the Prime Minister said that the BJP vehemently believes the principles and ideologies of Basaveshwara.

“Our agenda of Sabka Saath and Sab ka Vikas is fully inspired from the principles of Basaveshwara who preached social equality of all communities,” he said.

Modi gave credit to the BJP Government for implementing several lift irrigation projects of the District such as Revana Siddeshwara and Mulwad Lift Irrigation projects.

He said that the implementation of the projects is the testimony of the party’s commitment for the welfare of the farmers.
During his over twenty minute speech, he spoke a few words of Kannada also which made the crowd cheer for Modi.
