Vijayapura: Water Resources Minister Govind Karajol said that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has agreed to inaugurate Revansiddeshwar Lift Irrigation Project and Airport of Vijayapura, he has directed the officials to complete the airport works by February.
Speaking to mediapersons during his visit to airport site at Burnapur Village on the evening of Tuesday January 24, he said that he has directed to depute more labour force to complete the works within the stipulated time.
He said that as the progress of the airport is underway, discussions are on with airline companies such as Air India, Indigo and Star Airlines on operating their flights from this airport.
“The Government has granted Rs. 347 Crore to establish an airport to allow Airbus – 320 to fly from the airport. Already over 75 percent of the work has been completed,” the Minister said.
Mentioning the Lift Irrigation Project, he said that it is one of the mega projects being implemented at the cost of Rs. 2700 Crore.
“Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai has already requested the Prime Minister to attend the important event, therefore it is the job of the officials to ensure that the project is completed and ready for launch in February as PM is coming for the same,” he said.
PWD Executive Engineer, C. B. Chikkalaki, Assistant Executive Engineer, R. K. Majumdar, Contractor, S. S. Alur and other officials were present.
