Belagavi: Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and MP Ananth Kumar Hegde has been accused of violating the election model code of conduct, here on Monday, March 18.

The villagers of Hiremunavalli village of Khanapur town have alleged that Hegde conducted a meeting and public speech right outside a government library building here.

They said that he was canvassing for election and the officials concerned had not filed a case on him.

According to the model code of conduct for meetings, it is clearly stated that the parties must inform the local police authority before conducting any public meeting about the venue and time, in order to ensure adequate security arrangements.

Ananth Kumar Hegde is campaigning across the Uttara Kannada district for the Bharatiya Janata Party candidates.
