The Advocates’ Association of Bengaluru (AAB) requested Karnataka Chief Justice N V Anjaria to halt live streaming of court proceedings following controversies surrounding remarks by Justice V Shrishananda, which went viral across India. In a letter, the AAB expressed concerns about statements made by the judge, suggesting they undermine his otherwise strong judicial reputation. The association stressed the need for judicial sensitivity and called for a temporary pause on live streaming until proper guidelines are established.
Legal organizations, including PUCL-Karnataka and AILAJ, have also voiced concerns, citing the need to protect public faith in the judiciary. They urged adherence to the “Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct.”
