A man accused of murdering his wife and attempting to hide her body in a suitcase was brought to Bengaluru from Maharashtra on Saturday night. Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, 36, allegedly killed his wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, 32, on March 26 at their rented home in Doddakammanahalli, near Hulimavu.

Following the crime, Rakesh attempted to flee to Maharashtra, driving towards Pune. On March 27, he reportedly ingested a small quantity of poison, leading to his hospitalization. After receiving medical care, he was discharged and taken into custody by the Hulimavu police.

The police obtained a transit warrant, bringing Rakesh back to Bengaluru, where he was remanded to judicial custody. He is currently held in the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara. Authorities plan to seek his police custody in the coming days.

During initial questioning, Rakesh claimed that frequent arguments with Gouri led to the tragic event, though investigators are skeptical of his story. They are continuing their investigation into the matter and also looking into the role of Rakesh’s father, who was reportedly the first to be informed about the crime.
