A 24-year-old software developer has triggered a fresh online debate over rising rents in Bengaluru after revealing she pays ₹24,000 per month for a single room in a fully furnished 3-BHK apartment.
The woman, identified as Isha Arora, shared her living space in an Instagram reel, saying the room itself was “average”, but the scenic surroundings made the price worthwhile.
Lake view and blooming trees
In the video, she showed a balcony overlooking a lake and a tree filled with pink blossoms, calling the morning view one of the reasons she felt grateful despite the high rent.
She later clarified that the ₹24,000 was her share for one room in a fully furnished three-bedroom flat, while the total rent of the apartment was ₹70,000.
Internet sharply divided
Her post quickly drew mixed reactions online. Some users said the peaceful lake view and furnished setup justified the amount, especially considering rental rates in metro cities.
Others argued that the price was excessive for a single room and reflected the growing affordability crisis in Bengaluru’s housing market.
Some commenters also noted that the pink flowers seen in the video were likely Tabebuia rosea, commonly found across Bengaluru during bloom season, and not Japanese cherry blossoms.
Bengaluru rental pressure continues
The post has once again highlighted the challenges tenants face in India’s major cities, where rental costs continue to rise sharply due to demand from young professionals and limited housing supply.
For many newcomers to Bengaluru, balancing rent, commute, amenities and lifestyle remains a difficult choice.
Bigger urban conversation
While opinions remain split, the video has become part of a larger discussion on how much city dwellers are willing to pay for comfort, views and convenience.
