Bengaluru: As many as 12 transgender persons have been taken into custody for assault.
Two of the transgenders have, according to a report by ANI, been identified as Sumithra and Renuka. It has been alleged that the transgender persons in question attacked two other persons named Preethi and Vanishree, residents of Hamam near Marappana Palya, with weapons. They also allegedly tried to cut the victims’ hair and even snatched away a gold chain weighing about 25 to 40 gms, mobile phones and some cash.
Police have informed that one of the accused, Sumithra was in the team of Ashamma, the president of the Bengaluru Urban Transgender Association.
A difference of opinion between Ashamma and Sumithra over the sharing their daily collection led to conflict and the two factions that were formed got into a quarrel on October 25 near the Nanjappa Circle, under the Vidyaranyapura police station limits.
