144 Airforce Officers inducted

Bengaluru: An impressive Graduation Parade of Permanent and Short Service Commissions. Fifty of them are women officers saw 144 young officers inducted into the Indian Air Force on Friday. The induction parade was held at the Air Force Technical College, Jalahalli, according to the Ministry of Defence.

“The parade marks the culmination of 74 weeks of training, including 22 weeks at the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, in aeronautical engineering, military leadership, managerial skills and ethos of an air warrior,” an official release said.

Air Marshal Sukhchain Singh, Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance, Air Headquarters, greeted the new airmen of the armed forces and urged them to update their skills as military technology was changing constantly. He emphasised that IAF engineers are an important pillar of aerospace safety and play a vital role in maintaining aircraft and weapon systems.

Flying Officer Jitendra Kumar Sahu won the prestigious President’s Plaque for the best all round officer; Flying Officer Rahul Kumar Singh won the Vice-President’s Sword for the Second Best all round officer.
