Dharwad: Members of the Dharwad Janajagruti Abhiyaan have expressed anguish over lethargic attitude of Hubballi Dharwad Muncipal Corporation (HDMC) and the district administration, with regard to people’s problems.

“Though every ward in the twin cities is plagued with several problems, the authorities concerned are in deep slumber. They will be given 15 days time to solve people’s problems or a else massive protest will be held in Dharwad,” said Abhiyaan District President Ramanjanappa Aldalli.

Speaking to reporters in Dharwad, Aldalli said, “During the protest held on May 17, the authorities were asked to solve people’s problems. When we had approached the district authorities, we were asked to submit a list of problems. When we did, the same was forwarded to respective department but nothing has been done so far”, he alleged.

People have suffered due to incomplete BRTS work, drainage problems, bad roads, high water tax, garbage disposal, dust menace, among others. The officials have been repeatedly asked to address these issues but so far, there is no concrete assurance from them, he added.

“HDMC has failed to step up cleanliness drive and hence dirt is fogging in city during rainy season. Heaps of garbage are found on almost all roads and corners posing a threat to human health. The civic authorities have to chalk out a plan to solve the problems of the people failing which the organisation with the support of people would hold protests,” he added.

Nagaraj Gurikar, B N Pujar, Gangadhar Badiger, A M Khan and others were present.
