Bengaluru: The 175 trees which will be cut for the construction of metro routes, will be shifted to Bommanahalli constituency, said Union Minister for Parliament Affairs and Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, after inaugurating a ‘Bengaluru One’ service centre in Devarachikkanahalli of Bommanahalli, Ananth Kumar said that there is no other way, but to have the trees cut for the metro project. However, keeping in mind the environmental factors, the metro officials have been directed to shift the trees. In a positive development, 56 of the trees which were marked for felling have been shifted to Bilekahalli ward, he said.

The Union Minister said, “There were only 99 Jan Aushadhi centres in the country. During the NDA regime, 3,049 centres were established. There were threats from chemical mafia when we introduced neem-coated urea and drug mafia threats when Jan Aushada centres were introduced. However, facing all those risks we are moving forward,” he said.

On behalf of Adamya Chetana Foundation of Ananth Kumar, ‘Green Day’ is being celebrated in the city on every Sunday. Around 180 saplings were planted on this Sunday.

The inaugurated ‘Bengaluru-One’ centre is considered as biggest in the city. There are 10 counters and 51 services are available under one roof.
