The Centrepiece: A Floral Parliament
The show’s highlight is a magnificent floral model of the Parliament House, measuring 36 feet in diameter and 32 feet in height. This grand structure is adorned with 3.6 lakh roses and 2.4 lakh chrysanthemums, alongside a 12-foot tall statue of Dr Ambedkar. The intricate display serves as a central attraction, drawing visitors for photographs and selfies.
**Interactive and Educational Displays**
In addition to the central floral display, the show features replicas of Ambedkar’s birthplace and Chaitya Bhoomi, complete with descriptive plaques. These interactive elements provide educational value, helping visitors understand the significance of Dr Ambedkar’s life and achievements. Sitara Kazi, a botany professor from Mumbai who visited with her family, praised the thematic focus. “The display of Ambedkar’s life and works will help future generations understand his significance,” she said.
Public Engagement and Cultural Significance
The Lalbagh Flower Show not only celebrates horticultural excellence but also serves as a platform for cultural and historical education. By focusing on Dr Ambedkar, the event highlights his impact on Indian society and educates the public about his contributions in an engaging and visually appealing manner.
