The 22nd edition of Chitra Santhe, organized by Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, will take place on January 5. For the first time, the prestigious national art festival will adopt a hybrid model, combining its vibrant one-day on-campus event with a month-long online exhibition.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the festival at the Chitrakala Parishath campus on Kumara Krupa Road. Additional stalls for senior citizen artists will be located at the Seva Dal Ground. Approximately 1,500 artists from 22 states will display their works, reflecting diverse talents and perspectives.
Out of 3,177 submissions, 1,420 paintings were selected, including:
- 189 by senior citizens
- 152 by differently-abled artists
- 292 by hobbyists
- 769 by professionals
- 18 from art institutions
While Karnataka leads in participation, artists from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala also feature prominently.
This year’s theme, “The Girl Child”, addresses critical issues such as child abuse and the challenges faced by young girls.
For global access, the virtual platform (http://www.ckpvirtualworld.in) will showcase up to 10 artworks per artist for free, running from January 5 to February 4.
To ease congestion, BMTC feeder buses will operate from Majestic, Mantri Mall, and Vidhana Soudha Metro stations to Shivananda Circle. Visitors are encouraged to park at metro stations and take the bus to the venue.
