Bengaluru: 30 outstanding Women entrepreneurs were awarded for successfully fighting covid pandemic with business plans. The awardees were selected from among 1408 women supported by Functional Vocational Training and Research Society through Child Fund and City Bank to rebuild lives after the pandemic.
The awards were distributed on March 3 in Bangalore, which included a citation, a shawl and a trophy. Felix D’Souza, the Director of FVTRS said the women from Mangalore, Mysore and Bangalore were covered in the one year project with training, financial support and ongoing monitoring to reestablish their lost business plans which had suffered during the pandemic.
He said everyone covered in the program had performed well but a few were outstanding by earning more than 50,000 rupees a month. The women were part of Self Help Groups promoted by the Catholic nuns. Five women Entrepreuners from Mangalore, Meldiina Dsouza, Lavina Dcunha, Lydwin Martis, Anitha Pinto, and Shanthi Acharya received the awards besides 25 others from Bangalore and Mysore.
Dr Rajeswary, a women activist from Awake, who was the Chief Guest in the awards ceremony said that the awards came as a big recognition for women entrepreneurs as they celebrate international women’s day on March 8.
Catholic Agencies like Organization for Development and Peace (ODP), Mysore, St. Joseph’s of Tarbes sisters, Bangalore, Bethany sisters, charity sisters of Capitanio and Queen of Apostle sisters from Mangalore collaborated with the FVTRS for implementing the post covid rebuilding project in Karnataka.
