In a major citizen service initiative, around 300 property owners received their final e-khata certificates at a special mela organized by the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) in RT Nagar, under the Hebbal assembly constituency.
The event, launched by Urban Development Minister and Hebbal MLA Byrathi Suresh, was aimed at fast-tracking pending e-khata applications. BBMP officials confirmed that the mela would continue on Wednesday to benefit more residents.
To streamline the process, the BBMP set up:
- 6 counters for EPID verification
- 10 counters for scanning and uploading documents
- 10 counters for application approvals
An estimated 485 applicants took tokens during the mela, and 300 were issued final e-khatas on the same day. The process was supported by 40 volunteers, helping ensure a smooth experience for citizens.
The e-khata mela comes as part of BBMP’s broader push to improve property documentation efficiency and reduce bureaucratic delays, addressing long-standing concerns about red tape and errors in the digital khata issuance process.
