Bengaluru: Health services are expected to be disrupted across the state on Thursday with more than 30,000 contract workers working in the health department holding a day’s strike against the contract employment system.
As a precautionary measure, the department cancelled all the leaves and holidays of the regular employees.
According to HV Vasu who is leading the protest, around 22,000 employees working under the National Health Mission and 8,000 other employees working under various other schemes will join the protest.
“Our demand is job regularisation. Contract employment system is anti people and serves no purpose. We want the government to regularise the services of one and all,” he said.
“We are holding a major protest march in the Bengaluru to raise our demands infront of the government,” he said.
No impact on the night duty
He also informed that all the agitating employees will return to duty for the night shift. “Our aim is to seek justice, not to create problems to general public and patients,” he said.
