Bengaluru: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy left Congress leaders red-faced by stating that if Kannadigas vote for JDS-Congress alliance candidate a Kannadiga will become Prime Minister again. This irked the Congress leadership which has announced AICC president Rahul Gandhi as its Prime Ministerial candidate.
Speaking at a public rally in Mandya, HDK stated that if alliance candidates win in more than 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, no one can stop a Kannadiga from becoming a Prime Minister again.
He stated that people need to teach a lesson to the communal BJP, which is dividing society.
But as the news of his speech spread, the Congress state leaders expressed their displeasure over the CM’s statement. “HDK is trying to project his father as the PM candidate which is not acceptable. The Congress will not give more than 8 seats to the JDS in the Lok Sabha,” said a senior leader.
