Bengaluru: Bengaluru woke up to the soulful echoes of Birendra Kishore’s chants and the timeless tunes of Mahalaya on Sunday morning, as Aarohan Socio-Cultural Forum organized its much-awaited Prabhat Feri to mark the onset of Durga Puja celebrations.

Over 200 enthusiastic members gathered in the early hours, dressed in traditional attire—men and boys in vibrant red kurtas and women and girls in graceful white saris with red borders. Together, they set out on a spirited walk across the neighborhood, covering a few kilometers with rhythmic chants of “Durga Durgati Nashini.” The air resonated with Sonkho Dhoni (conch shells), adding divine energy to the procession.

The Prabhat Feri was further enriched as members joined in chorus renditions of Mahalaya songs and Agamoni gaan, welcoming the Goddess with music that touched every heart. The blend of voices, chants, and traditional instruments created a spiritual aura, reminding everyone of the festive mornings back in Bengal.

Children, too, participated with zeal—taking part in creative activities that showcased their connection to tradition while enjoying the festive spirit. Post the walk, members gathered for a cultural program, filled with performances, storytelling, and community bonding over delicious bhog and refreshments.

Adding deeper meaning to the day, Aarohan also undertook a CSR drive at Shabari Ashram, Belathur, on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya. The Ashram, which shelters 30 children and 33 elderly residents, became the center of joy as members of Aarohan extended their support to bring smiles, hope, and love to the underprivileged.

This noble effort was carried out under Aarohan’s flagship program — #WorshipForHumanity — a gentle reminder that true devotion lies not only in rituals, but also in serving humanity.

Together, Aarohan continues to make a differenes.

With the resounding success of the Prabhat Feri and the CSR initiative, Aarohan now looks forward to the grandeur of Durgeshgor er Debi Dwar @ Namma Bengaluru, the theme for Aarohan Durgotsav 2025.
