Bengaluru: Science and technology holds a significant place in today’s era. The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has welcomed the move of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to start engineering courses in regional languages, including Kannada, to enable everyone to contribute to the country’s science and technology sector.

ABVP General Secretary Manikanta Kalasa stated in a release that the move will prove beneficial for students from rural areas of Karnataka. So far, only urban students were mostly taking up engineering courses. However, the move will now encourage rural students too to study engineering, he added in the release.

In order to properly implement the content of the study in Kannada, the state government, in particular, must ensure that the VTU does a fast track and qualitative translation of textbooks and other books related to studies. Also there is a need to see that there is no shortage of translated textbooks and see that implementation of Kannada medium engineering studies are done without any hitches, further added the release.
